This is a great quality affordable instrument whether you are a complete beginner or have been playing music for years. Please note that a 21" soprano ukulele is the smallest "full-size" ukulele and historically the most popular and traditional. They are quite small but produce a rich warm and calming tone. Soprano ukuleles are great for people of all ages but can be especially great for kids. They are very intuitive and a relatively small instrument making them very approachable and easy to hold. The strings are also nylon instead of steel which is typical of most guitars, violins, mandolins and many other string instruments. 

**Please note that you will receive a brand-new ukulele. The ukulele will need tuned and tuning a string instrument for the first time is a little tedious and a string instrument with nylon strings is even more so. The outer strings (A and E) will take extra time to tune (since they are the highest in pitch) and each time you turn the tuner the pitch may barely go up if at all. Just keep turning. This is not an issue and completely expected. Once you get it in tune a few times it will begin holding tuning much better and after time it will only need slight adjustments here and there. If you have never tuned a ukulele with new strings you will probably have the thought that it is defective or won't hold tune, just keep going it will eventually hold tune very well.
